Proverbs 19:3-13

The 1foolishness of man ruins his way, And his heart 2rages against the LORD.
3Wealth adds many friends, But a poor man is separated from his friend.
A 4false witness will not go unpunished, And he who 5tells lies will not escape.
6Many will seek the favor of a generous man, And every man is a friend to him who 7gives gifts.
All the brothers of a poor man hate him; How much * more do his 8friends abandon him! He 9pursues them with words, but they are gone.
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will 10find good.
A 11false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will perish.
Luxury is 12not fitting for a fool; Much * less for a 13slave to rule over princes.
A man's 14discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory 15to overlook a transgression.
The 16king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, But his favor is like 17dew on the grass.
A 18foolish son is destruction to his father, And the 19contentions of a wife are a constant dripping.
