1
My son, if you will 1receive my words And 2treasure my commandmentswithin you,
23Make your earattentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding ;
3
For if you cry for discernment, aLift your voice for understanding ;
4If you seek her as 4silver And search for her as for 5hiddentreasures ;
5Then you will discern the 6fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God.
6
For 7the LORDgiveswisdom ; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7
He stores up soundwisdom for the upright ; He is a 8shield to those who walk in integrity,
8Guarding the paths of justice, And He 9preserves the way of His godlyones.
9Then you will discern10righteousness and justice And equity and every11goodcourse.
10
For 12wisdom will enter your heart And 13knowledge will be pleasant to your soul ;
11Discretion will 14guard you, Understanding will watch over you,
12
To 15deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks16perversethings ;
13
From those who 17leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the 18ways of darkness ;
14Who19delight in doingevil And rejoice in the perversity of evil ;
15Whosepaths are 20crooked, And who are devious in their ways ;
16
To 21deliver you from the strangewoman, From the b22adulteress who flatters with her words ;
17
That leaves the 23companion of her youth And forgets the 24covenant of her God ;
18
For 25her housecsinksdown to death And her tracks lead to the ddead ;
19None26who go to her return again, Nor do they reach the 27paths of life.
20So you will 28walk in the way of goodmen And keep to the 29paths of the righteous.
21
For 30the upright will elive in the land And 31the blameless will remain in it;
22
But 32the wicked will be cutoff from the land And 33the treacherous will be 34uprooted from it.
