And he cried out with a mightyvoice, saying, "a4Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great ! She 5has become a dwellingplace of demons and a bprison of every6uncleanspirit, and a cprison of everyunclean and hatefulbird.
3
"For all the nationsdhave drunk of the 7wine of the epassion of her immorality, and 8the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the 9merchants of the earth have becomerich by the fwealth of her g10sensuality."
4
I heardanothervoice from heaven, saying, "11Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues ;
5
for her sins have h12piled up as high as heaven, and God has 13remembered her iniquities.
6
"14Pay her backeven as she has paid, and igiveback to her doubleaccording to her deeds ; in the 15cupwhich she has mixed, mixtwice as much for her.
7
"16To the degree that she glorifiedherself and 17livedjsensuously, to the samedegreegive her torment and mourning ; for she says in her heart, '18I SIT as A QUEEN AND I AM NOT A WIDOW, and will neverseemourning.'
8
"For thisreason19in oneday her plagues will come, kpestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be 20burned up with fire ; for the LordGod who judges her 21is strong.
9
"And 22the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and 23livedlsensuously with her, will 24weep and lamentover her when they 25see the smoke of her burning,
1026standing at a distancebecause of the fear of her torment, saying, '27Woe, woe, 28the greatcity, Babylon, the strongcity ! For in 29onehour your judgment has come.'
11
"And the 30merchants of the earth31weep and mournover her, becausenoonebuys their cargoesanymore -
12cargoes of 32gold and silver and preciousmstones and pearls and finelinen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citronwood and everyarticle of ivory and everyarticle made from verycostlywood and nbronze and iron and marble,

15
"The 34merchants of 35thesethings, who became rich from her, will 36stand at a distancebecause of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning,
16saying, '37Woe, woe, 38the greatcity, she who 39was clothed in finelinen and purple and scarlet, and sadorned with gold and preciouststones and pearls ;
17
for in 40onehoursuchgreatwealth has been laid41waste !' And 42everyshipmaster and everyupassenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, 43stood at a distance,
18
and were 44crying out as they 45saw the smoke of her burning, saying, '46What city is like47the greatcity ?'
19
"And they threw48dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, '49Woe, woe, the greatcity, in whichall who hadships at sea50became rich by her vwealth, for in 51onehour she has been laid52waste !'
20
"53Rejoiceover her, O heaven, and you wsaints and 54apostles and prophets, because55God has xpronouncedjudgment for you against her."
21Thenya 56strongangel57took up a stonelike a greatmillstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "So will Babylon, 58the greatcity, be thrown down with violence, and 59will not be foundanylonger.

"And 60the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you anylonger ; and nocraftsman of anycraft will be found in you anylonger ; and the 61sound of a mill will not be heard in you anylonger ;
23
and the light of a lamp will not shine in you anylonger ; and the 62voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you anylonger ; for your 63merchants were the greatmen of the earth, becauseall the nations were deceived64by your sorcery.
