1Then I sawwhen the 1Lambbrokeone of the 2sevenseals, and I heardone of the 3fourlivingcreaturessaying as with a 4voice of thunder, "Comea."
2
I looked, and behold, a 5whitehorse, and he who sat on it had a bow ; and 6a crown was given to him, and he went out 7conquering and to conquer.
3When He broke the secondseal, I heard the 8secondlivingcreaturesaying, "Comeb."
4
And another, 9a redhorse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to 10takepeace from the earth, and that men would slayoneanother ; and a greatsword was given to him.
5When He broke the thirdseal, I heard the 11thirdlivingcreaturesaying, "Comec." I looked, and behold, a 12blackhorse ; and he who sat on it had a 13pair of scales in his hand.
6
And I heard something like a voice in the center of the 14fourlivingcreaturessaying, "A dquart of wheat for a edenarius, and threefquarts of barley for a gdenarius ; and 15do not damage the oil and the wine."
7When the Lamb broke the fourthseal, I heard the voice of the 16fourthlivingcreaturesaying, "Comeh."
8
I looked, and behold, an i17ashenhorse ; and he who sat on it had the name18Death ; and 19Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, 20to kill with sword and with famine and with jpestilence and by the wildbeasts of the earth.
9When the Lamb broke the fifthseal, I saw21underneath the 22altar the 23souls of those who had been slain24because of the word of God, and because of the 25testimonywhich they had maintained ;
10
and they cried out with a loudvoice, saying, "26Howlong , O k27Lord, 28holy and true, lwill You refrain from 29judging and avenging our blood on 30those who dwell on the earth ?"
11
And 31there was given to each of them a whiterobe ; and they were told that they should 32rest for a littlewhilelonger, 33until the number of their fellowservants and their brethren who were to be killedeven as they had been, would be 34completedalso.
12
I lookedwhen He broke the sixthseal, and there was a great35earthquake ; and the 36sunbecameblack as 37sackcloth made of hair, and the wholemoonbecamelikeblood ;
13
and 38the stars of the skyfell to the earth, 39as a figtreecasts its unripefigs when shaken by a greatwind.
1440The sky was splitapartlike a scroll when it is rolled up, and 41everymountain and island were moved out of their places.
15Then42the kings of the earth and the greatmen and the mcommanders and the rich and the strong and everyslave and freemanhidthemselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains ;
16
and they 43said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the npresence of Him 44who sits on the throne, and from the 45wrath of the Lamb ;
17
for 46the greatday of their wrath has come, and 47who is able to stand ?"
