1Thenwhataadvantage has the Jew ? Orwhat is the benefit of circumcision ?
2Great in everyrespect. First of all, that 1they were entrusted with the 2oracles of God.
3Whatthen ? If3somebdid not believe, their cunbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?
44May it never be! Rather, let God be foundtrue, thougheveryman be found 5a liar, as it is written, "6THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS, AND PREVAILWHEN YOU dARE JUDGED."
5
But if our unrighteousnesse7demonstrates the righteousness of God, 8what shall we say ? The God who inflictswrath is not unrighteous, is He? (9I am speaking in humanterms.)
610May it never be! For otherwise, how will 11Godjudge the world ?
7
But ifthrough my lie12the truth of Godabounded to His glory, 13why am I alsostill being judged as a sinner ?
8
And why not say (as we are slanderouslyreported and as someclaim that we say ), "14Let us doevil that good may come "? fTheir condemnation is just.
9Whatthen ? g15Are we better than they? Not at all ; for we have alreadycharged that both16Jews and 17Greeks are 18allundersin ;
10
as it is written, "19THERE IS NONERIGHTEOUS, NOT EVENONE ;
11
THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD ;
12ALL HAVE TURNEDASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOMEUSELESS ; THERE IS NONE WHO DOESGOOD, THERE IS NOT EVENONE."
13
"20THEIR THROAT IS AN OPENGRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "21THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS ";
14
"22WHOSEMOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS ";
15
"23THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHEDBLOOD,
16DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS,
17
AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN."
18
"24THERE IS NOFEAR OF GODBEFORE THEIR EYES."
19Now we know that whatever the 25Lawsays, it speaks to 26those who are hunder the Law, so that everymouth may be closed and 27all the world may becomeaccountable to God ;
20because28by the worksiof the Lawnoflesh will be justified in His sight ; for j29through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
21
But nowapartkfrom the Law30the righteousness of God has been manifested, being 31witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
22even the 32righteousness of Godthrough33faith34in JesusChrist for 35allthoselwho believe ; for 36there is nodistinction ;
23
for allm37have sinned and fallshort of the glory of God,
24
being justified as a gift38by His gracethrough39the redemption which is in ChristJesus ;
25whomGoddisplayedpublicly as 40a npropitiationo41in His bloodthroughfaith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, pbecause in the 42forbearance of God He 43passedover the sinspreviouslycommitted ;
26
for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the presenttime, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who qhas faith in Jesus.
27Wherethen is 44boasting ? It is excluded. By 45whatkind of law ? Of works ? No, but by a law of faith.
28rFor 46we maintain that a man is justified by faithapart from workssof the Law.
29Or47is God the God of Jewsonly ? Is He not the God of Gentilesalso ? Yes, of Gentilesalso,
30sinceindeed48God49who will justify the tcircumciseduby faith and the vuncircumcisedthroughfaith50is one.
31
Do we thennullifywthe Lawthroughfaith ? 51May it never be! On the contrary, we 52establish the Law.
