even us, whom He also1called, 2not from amongJewsonly, but also from amongGentiles.
As He saysalso in Hosea, "3I WILL CALLTHOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, 'MY PEOPLE,' AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, 'BELOVED.' "
"4AND IT SHALL BE THAT IN THE PLACEWHERE IT WAS SAID TO THEM, 'YOU ARE NOT MY PEOPLE,' THERE THEY SHALL BE CALLEDSONS OF 5THE LIVINGGOD."
27Isaiahcries out concerningIsrael, "6THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE 7LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS 8THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED;
289FOR THE LORD WILL EXECUTE HIS WORD ON THE EARTH, aTHOROUGHLY AND bQUICKLY."
And just as Isaiahforetold, "10UNLESS11THE LORD OF cSABAOTH HAD LEFT TO US A dPOSTERITY, 12WE WOULD HAVE BECOMELIKESODOM, AND WOULD HAVE eRESEMBLEDGOMORRAH."
3013What shall we saythen? That Gentiles, who did not pursuerighteousness, attainedrighteousness, even14the righteousness which is fby faith;
but Israel, 15pursuing a law of righteousness, did not 16arrive at that law.
32Why ? Because they did not pursue it gby faith, but as though it were hby works. They stumbledover17the stumblingstone,
33just as it is written, "18BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION19A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, 20AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM 21WILL NOT BE iDISAPPOINTED."
