The word of the LORDwhichcame to Zephaniahson of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of 1Josiahson of 2Amon, king of Judah:
"I will completely3removeall things From the face of the aearth," declares the LORD.
"I will remove4man and beast; I will remove the 5birds of the sky And the fish of the sea, And the b6ruinsalong with the wicked; And I will cutoffman from the face of the cearth," declares the LORD.
"So I will 7stretch out My handagainstJudah And againstall the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And I will 8cutoff the remnant of Baal from thisplace, And the names of the 9idolatrouspriestsalong with the priests.
"And those who bowdown on the 10housetops to the host of heaven, And those who bowdown and 11swear to the LORD and yet swear by d12Milcom,
And those who have 13turnedback from following the LORD, And those who have 14not sought the LORD or inquired of Him."
7e15Be silentbefore the LordfGOD! For the 16day of the LORD is near, For the LORD has prepared a 17sacrifice, He has 18consecrated His guests.
"Then it will come about on the day of the LORD'Ssacrifice That I will 19punish the princes, the king'ssons And all who clothe themselves with 20foreigngarments.
"And I will punish on that dayall who leap on the temple threshold, Who fill the house of their glord with 21violence and deceit.
"On that day," declares the LORD, "There will be the sound of a cry from the 22FishGate, A wail from the h23Second Quarter, And a loudcrash from the 24hills.
11"Wail, O inhabitants of the iMortar, For all the jpeople of 25Canaan will be silenced; All who weigh out 26silver will be cutoff.
"It will come about at that time That I will 27searchJerusalem with lamps, And I will punish the men Who are k28stagnant in spirit, Who say in their hearts, 'The LORD will 29not dogood or evil!'
"Moreover, their wealth will become30plunder And their housesdesolate; Yes, 31they will buildhouses but not inhabit them, And plantvineyards but not drink their wine."
14Near is the 32great33day of the LORD, Near and comingveryquickly; Listen, the day of the LORD! lIn it the warrior34cries out bitterly.
A day of wrath is that day, A day of 35trouble and distress, A day of destruction and desolation, A day of 36darkness and gloom, A day of clouds and thickdarkness,
A day of 37trumpet and battlecryAgainst the 38fortifiedcities And the highcornertowers.
I will bring39distress on men So that they will walk40like the blind, Because they have sinned against the LORD; And their 41blood will be poured out like dust And their 42flesh like dung.
18Neither their 43silvernor their gold Will be able to deliver them On the day of the LORD'Swrath; And 44all the earth will be devoured In the fire of His jealousy, For He will 45make a completeend, Indeed a terrifying one, Of all the inhabitants of the earth.
