Mark 14:25

25 What I'm about to tell you is true. I won't drink wine with you again until the day I drink it in God's kingdom."

Mark 14:25 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 14:25

Verily I say unto you
This seems, to have been said after the eating of the passover, according to ( Luke 22:18 ) , but was, in reality, not till after the Lord's supper was ended, and the last cup was drank, which was wont to be drank at the passover: I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine;
that is, wine, until that day that I drink it new;
in a figurative and mystical sense; by which are meant the joys of heaven: in the kingdom of God;
Father, Son, and Spirit, upon the general resurrection of the dead, when the kingdom of the Mediator will be delivered up, and there will be no distinction of government; but God, Father, Son, and Spirit, will be all in all, and shall reign in the saints, and they with them, to all eternity; (See Gill on Matthew 26:29).

Mark 14:25 In-Context

23 Then he took the cup. He gave thanks and handed it to them. All of them drank from it.
24 "This is my blood of the new covenant," he said to them. "It is poured out for many.
25 What I'm about to tell you is true. I won't drink wine with you again until the day I drink it in God's kingdom."
26 Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
27 "You will all turn away," Jesus told the disciples. "It is written, " 'I will strike the shepherd down. Then the sheep will be scattered.' (Zechariah 13:7)
