Isaiah 59:1-2; Matthew 13:57-58; James 4:3; 1 John 3:22 (New Living Translation)

1 Listen! The LORD is not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. 2 But there is a problem -- your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. 57 And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, "A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family." 58 And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief. 3 And even when you do ask, you don't get it because your whole motive is wrong -- you want only what will give you pleasure. 22 And we will receive whatever we request because we obey him and do the things that please him.
