26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the story about the bush, how God said to him, "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?

Mark 12:26

And as touching the dead, that they rise
For the proof of the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead,

have ye not read in the book of Moses;
that is, in the law of Moses; for though it was divided into five parts, it was but one book; just as the Psalms are called the Book of Psalms, ( Acts 1:20 ) , and the Prophets, the Book of the Prophets, ( Acts 7:42 ) . The book of Exodus is particularly intended; for the passage referred to is in ( Exodus 3:6 ) ,

how in the bush God spake unto him,
or "out of the bush", as the Syriac and Persic versions read;

saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God

24 Jesus said to them, "Is not this the reason you are wrong, that you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God?

25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the story about the bush, how God said to him, "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?

27 He is God not of the dead, but of the living; you are quite wrong."

28 One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, "Which commandment is the first of all?"
