22 And their father Ephraim mourned many days, and his brothers came to comfort him.

1 Chronicles 7:22 Meaning and Commentary

1 Chronicles 7:22

And Ephraim their father mourned many days
For the loss of his son and grandchildren for the above fact was done while the Israelites were in Egypt, and Ephraim the patriarch yet alive; nor is there any need to suppose another Ephraim, different from him:

and his brethren came to comfort him;
some of the heads of the other tribes of Israel, particularly Manasseh, with some of his family.

1 Chronicles 7:22 In-Context

20 The sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah, and Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son,
21 Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer and Elead. Now the people of Gath, who were born in the land, killed them, because they came down to raid their cattle.
22 And their father Ephraim mourned many days, and his brothers came to comfort him.
23 Ephraim went in to his wife, and she conceived and bore a son; and he named him Beriah, because disaster had befallen his house.
24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built both Lower and Upper Beth-horon, and Uzzen-sheerah.
