7 Entonces el rey Joás mandó llamar a Joiada y a los demás sacerdotes y les preguntó: «¿Por qué no han reparado el templo? Ya no tomen más dinero para sus propias necesidades. De ahora en adelante, todo debe usarse en la reparación del templo».

2 Kings 12:7

Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other
priests
The common priests, Jehoiada being high priest:

and said unto them, why repair ye not the breaches of the house?
in which they appeared to him very dilatory; the reason might be, the people were not forward to pay in their money, and they might not choose to begin the repairs until they had got it all in, or at least what was sufficient to carry them through them:

now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance;
suspecting that what they had received they kept for their own use:

but deliver it for the breaches of the house;
into other hands for that use, and so dismissed them at once from collecting the money, and being concerned in the repairs of the temple.

5 Los sacerdotes tomarán de este dinero para pagar cualquier reparación que haya que hacer en el templo».

6 Sin embargo, en el año veintitrés del reinado de Joás, los sacerdotes aún no habían reparado el templo.

7 Entonces el rey Joás mandó llamar a Joiada y a los demás sacerdotes y les preguntó: «¿Por qué no han reparado el templo? Ya no tomen más dinero para sus propias necesidades. De ahora en adelante, todo debe usarse en la reparación del templo».

8 Así que los sacerdotes acordaron no aceptar más dinero de la gente y también estuvieron de acuerdo en que otros tomaran la responsabilidad de reparar el templo.

9 Luego el sacerdote Joiada tomó un cofre grande, le hizo un agujero en la tapa y lo puso al lado derecho del altar, en la entrada del templo del Señor
. Los sacerdotes que cuidaban la entrada ponían dentro del cofre todas las contribuciones de la gente.
