27 Esperanza para la descendencia real de Israel
En el año treinta y siete del exilio de Joaquín, rey de Judá, Evil-merodac ascendió al trono de Babilonia. El nuevo rey fue bondadoso con
Joaquín y lo puso en libertad el 2 de abril de ese año.

Ver. 27-30. And it came to pass in the thirty and seventh year
of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah
Who must then be fifty five years of age:

in the twelfth month, on the twenty and seventh day of the month;
in ( Jeremiah 52:31 ) it is said to be the twenty fifth day; of the reason of which difference, (See Gill on Jeremiah 52:31):

that Evilmerodach king of Babylon;
who is supposed, by some ^F26", to be the same with Belshazzar, and his successor Neriglissar, the same with Darius the Mede in Daniel. From hence, to the end of the chapter, the same account is given of the kindness of this king to Jehoiachin, as in ( Jeremiah 52:31-34 ) . Metasthenes ^F1 calls him Amilinus Evilmerodach, and says he reigned thirty years, and makes Belshazzar, or Baltassar, as he calls him, his third son.

25 Después, a mediados del otoño de ese año,
Ismael, hijo de Netanías y nieto de Elisama, quien era de la familia real, fue con diez hombres a Mizpa y mató a Gedalías. También mató a todos los judíos y babilonios que estaban con Gedalías en Mizpa.

26 Entonces toda la gente de Judá, desde el menos importante hasta el más importante, junto con los comandantes del ejército, huyeron despavoridos a Egipto, porque tenían miedo de lo que pudieran hacerles los babilonios.

28 Le habló con amabilidad y le dio una posición superior a la de los demás reyes exiliados en Babilonia.

29 Le proporcionó a Joaquín ropa nueva para reemplazar la ropa de prisionero y le permitió comer en presencia del rey por el resto de su vida.
