Ezekiel 26:18

Now shall the isles tremble in the day of thy fall
The isles near unto it, the isles of the Mediterranean sea; the inhabitants of them, the merchants who from thence traded with Tyre, the seafaring men of those places; partly on account of losses sustained hereby, and partly through fear of the same calamities coming upon themselves; see ( Revelation 18:11 Revelation 18:15 Revelation 18:17 ) : yea, the isles that are in the sea shall be troubled at thy departure; as at the cry of the wounded, and the number of the slain; so on account of those that should be carried away captive by the Babylonians; as well as at the departure of those that should be obliged to fly to other colonies, ( Isaiah 23:6 ) , so that, upon one account or another, it shall be entirely stripped of its inhabitants.

16 Los gobernantes de las ciudades portuarias dejarán sus tronos y se quitarán las vestiduras reales y su hermosa ropa. Se sentarán en el suelo, temblando de terror a causa de tu destrucción.

17 Después se lamentarán por ti entonando este canto fúnebre:
»¡Oh famosa ciudad isleña,
que antes gobernaba el mar,
cómo has sido destruida!
Tu gente, con su poderío naval,
antes sembraba terror por todo el mundo.

18 Ahora las tierras costeras tiemblan de miedo por tu caída.
Decaen las islas a medida que desapareces.

19 »Esto dice el Señor
Soberano: convertiré a Tiro en ruinas despobladas, como muchas otras. La sepultaré bajo las terribles oleadas del ataque enemigo. Los grandes mares te tragarán.

20 Te enviaré a la fosa para que te reúnas con los que descendieron allí hace mucho tiempo. Tu ciudad quedará en ruinas, sepultada bajo tierra, como los que están en la fosa, quienes entraron al mundo de los muertos. Aquí, en el mundo de los vivos, no tendrás ningún lugar de honor.
