2 Chronicles 27:3

He built the high gate in the house of the Lord

and on the wall of Ophel he built much;
which Kimchi interprets an high place; it was the eastern part of Mount Zion. Josephus ^F6 calls it Ophlas, and says it joined to the eastern porch of the temple; and some have thought the porch of the temple is meant; the Targum renders it a palace; it is a tradition of the Jews that it was the holy of holies ^F7.

1 Jotán tenía veinticinco años cuando ascendió al trono, y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. Su madre era Jerusa hija de Sadoc.

2 Jotán hizo lo que agrada al SEÑOR, pues en todo siguió el buen ejemplo de su padre Uzías, pero no iba al templo del SEÑOR. El pueblo, por su parte, continuó con sus prácticas corruptas.

4 construyó ciudades en las montañas de Judá, y fortalezas y torres en los bosques.

5 Jotán le declaró la guerra al rey de los amonitas y lo venció. Durante tres años consecutivos, los amonitas tuvieron que pagarle un tributo anual de cien barras de plata, diez mil cargas de trigo y diez mil cargas de cebada.
