Now concerning the collection for the saints: you should follow the directions I gave to the churches of Galatia. 1 Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do.
On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come. 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
And when I arrive, I will send any whom you approve with letters to take your gift to Jerusalem. 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.
If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
I will visit you after passing through Macedonia—for I intend to pass through Macedonia— 5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you--for I will be going through Macedonia.
and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way, wherever I go. 6 Perhaps I will stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
I do not want to see you now just in passing, for I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. 7 I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, 8 But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,
for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord just as I am; 10 If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
therefore let no one despise him. Send him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me; for I am expecting him with the brothers. 11 No one, then, should refuse to accept him. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. He will come when he has the opportunity. 12 Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. 13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
Let all that you do be done in love. 14 Do everything in love.
Now, brothers and sisters, you know that members of the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints; 15 You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. I urge you, brothers,
I urge you to put yourselves at the service of such people, and of everyone who works and toils with them. 16 to submit to such as these and to everyone who joins in the work, and labors at it.
I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence; 17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. So give recognition to such persons. 18 For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
The churches of Asia send greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church in their house, greet you warmly in the Lord. 19 The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.
All the brothers and sisters send greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. 20 All the brothers here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. 21 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.
Let anyone be accursed who has no love for the Lord. Our Lord, come! 22 If anyone does not love the Lord --a curse be on him. Come, O Lord !
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus. 24 My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
