Now concerning the collection for the saints: As I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 1 Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do.
Upon the first day of the week, let every one of you lay aside in store as God hath prospered him, so that there need be no gatherings when I come. 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
And when I come, whomever ye shall approve by your letters I will send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem. 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.
And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
Now I will come unto you when I shall pass through Macedonia (for I am passing through Macedonia). 5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you--for I will be going through Macedonia.
And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you,Œthat ye may send me on my journey whithersoever I go. 6 Perhaps I will stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
For I will not see you now on my way, but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit. 7 I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. 8 But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,
For a great door, and effectual, has opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. 9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
Now if Timothy come, see that he may be with you without fear, for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do. 10 If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
Let no man therefore despise him, but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me; for I look for him with the brethren. 11 No one, then, should refuse to accept him. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
Now concerning our brother Apollos: I greatly desired that he should come unto you with the brethren, but it was not at all his will to come at this time; but he will come when it shall be convenient. 12 Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
Watch ye; stand fast in the faith; acquit yourselves like men; be strong. 13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
Let all your things be done with charity. 14 Do everything in love.
I beseech you, brethren (ye know the household of Stephanas and that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the ministry of the saints), 15 You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. I urge you, brothers,
that ye submit yourselves unto such and to everyone that helpeth with us and laboreth. 16 to submit to such as these and to everyone who joins in the work, and labors at it.
I am glad about the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied. 17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
For they have refreshed my spirit and yours; therefore acknowledge ye those who are such. 18 For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. 19 The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.
All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with a holy kiss. 20 All the brothers here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
The salutation of me, Paul, with mine own hand. 21 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.
If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema. Maranatha! 22 If anyone does not love the Lord--a curse be on him. Come, O Lord !
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. 24 My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
