New American Standard (NAS) New International Version (NIV)
It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father's wife. 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife.
You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?
For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. 3 Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present.
In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, 4 When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.
Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? 6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?
Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. 7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 9 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people--
I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler -not even to eat with such a one. 11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
For what have I to do with judging outsiders ? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES . 13 God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."
