It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not found even among pagans; for a man is living with his father's wife. 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife.
And you are arrogant! Should you not rather have mourned, so that he who has done this would have been removed from among you? 2 And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?
For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present I have already pronounced judgment 3 Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present.
in the name of the Lord Jesus on the man who has done such a thing. When you are assembled, and my spirit is present with the power of our Lord Jesus, 4 When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
you are to hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. 5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.
Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?
Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch, as you really are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. 7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
Therefore, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons— 9 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people--
not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world. 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one. 11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge? 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
God will judge those outside. "Drive out the wicked person from among you." 13 God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."
