Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
It is absolutely heard that there is fornication among you and such fornication as the like is not among the heathens: that one should have his father’s wife. 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife.
And you are puffed up and have not rather mourned: that he might be taken away from among you that hath done this thing. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?
I indeed, absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged, as though I were present, him that hath so done, 3 Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you being gathered together and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus: 4 When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
To deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.
Your glorying is not good. Know you not that a little leaven corrupteth the whole lump? 6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?
Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed. 7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
Therefore, let us feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote to you in an epistle not to keep company with fornicators. 9 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people--
I mean not with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or the extortioners or the servers of idols: otherwise you must needs go out of this world. 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
But now I have written to you, not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator or covetous or a server of idols or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner: with such a one, not so much as to eat. 11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
For what have I to do to judge them that are without? Do not you judge them that are within? 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
For them that are without, God will judge. Put away the evil one from among yourselves. 13 God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."
