1 Ahora bien, hermanos, con respecto a los tiempos y a las épocas, no tenéis necesidad de que se os escriba nada.
|
1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,
|
|
2 Pues vosotros mismos sabéis perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá así como un ladrón en la noche;
|
2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
|
|
3 que cuando estén diciendo: Paz y seguridad, entonces la destrucción vendrá sobre ellos repentinamente, como dolores de parto a una mujer que está encinta, y no escaparán.
|
3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
|
|
4 Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que el día os sorprenda como ladrón;
|
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
|
|
5 porque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz e hijos del día. No somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.
|
5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
|
|
6 Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás, sino estemos alerta y seamos sobrios .
|
6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.
|
|
7 Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se emborrachan, de noche se emborrachan.
|
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
|
|
8 Pero puesto que nosotros somos del día, seamos sobrios, habiéndonos puesto la coraza de la fe y del amor, y por yelmo la esperanza de la salvación.
|
8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
|
|
9 Porque no nos ha destinado Dios para ira, sino para obtener salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
|
9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
|
|
10 que murió por nosotros, para que ya sea que estemos despiertos o dormidos, vivamos juntamente con El.
|
10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
|
|
11 Por tanto, alentaos los unos a los otros, y edificaos el uno al otro, tal como lo estáis haciendo.
|
11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
|
|
12 Pero os rogamos hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que con diligencia trabajan entre vosotros, y os dirigen en el Señor y os instruyen,
|
12 Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.
|
|
13 y que los tengáis en muy alta estima con amor, por causa de su trabajo. Vivid en paz los unos con los otros.
|
13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.
|
|
14 Y os exhortamos, hermanos, a que amonestéis a los indisciplinados, animéis a los desalentados, sostengáis a los débiles y seáis pacientes con todos.
|
14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
|
|
15 Mirad que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal, sino procurad siempre lo bueno los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
|
15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
|
|
16 Estad siempre gozosos;
|
16 Be joyful always;
|
|
17 orad sin cesar;
|
17 pray continually;
|
|
18 dad gracias en todo, porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para vosotros en Cristo Jesús.
|
18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
|
|
19 No apaguéis el Espíritu;
|
19 Do not put out the Spirit's fire;
|
|
20 no menospreciéis las profecías .
|
20 do not treat prophecies with contempt.
|
|
21 Antes bien, examinadlo todo cuidadosamente, retened lo bueno;
|
21 Test everything. Hold on to the good.
|
|
22 absteneos de toda forma de mal.
|
22 Avoid every kind of evil.
|
|
23 Y que el mismo Dios de paz os santifique por completo; y que todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea preservado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
|
23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
|
|
24 Fiel es el que os llama, el cual también lo hará.
|
24 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
|
|
25 Hermanos, orad por nosotros.
|
25 Brothers, pray for us.
|
|
26 Saludad a todos los hermanos con beso santo.
|
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
|
|
27 Os encargo solemnemente por el Señor que se lea esta carta a todos los hermanos.
|
27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
|
|
28 La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros.
|
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
