Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
Therefore, I urge first of all [that] petitions, prayers, requests, [and] thanksgiving be made on behalf of all people, 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--
on behalf of kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we may live a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
This [is] good and acceptable before God our Savior, 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
For [there is] one God and one mediator between God and human beings, the man Christ Jesus, 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time.
for which I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am speaking the truth, [I am] not lying--a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and dispute. 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.
Likewise also the women should adorn themselves in appropriate clothing, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold jewelry or pearls or expensive clothing, 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
but with good deeds which are fitting for women who profess godliness. 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
A woman must learn in quietness with all submission. 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
But I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but {to remain quiet}. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve, 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, [because she] was deceived, came into transgression. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
But she will be saved through the bearing of children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
