If you put these instructions before the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching that you have followed. 6 If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.
Have nothing to do with profane myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself in godliness, 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

For to this end we toil and struggle, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. 10 (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.
These are the things you must insist on and teach. 11 Command and teach these things.
Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
Until I arrive, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhorting, to teaching. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.
Put these things into practice, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress. 15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
