New King James Version (NKJV) New International Version (NIV)
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 1 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly--mere infants in Christ.
I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men?
For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not carnal? 4 For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe--as the Lord has assigned to each his task.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.
So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.
For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. 9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds.
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,
each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.
If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.
If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?
If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 17 If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness"; 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness";
and again, "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile." 20 and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."
Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: 21 So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours,
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come--all are yours. 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours,
And you are Christ's, and Christ is God's. 23 and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
