Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
For this perishable nature must put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature must put on immortality. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
"O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?" 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
