New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
So get rid of all malicious behavior and deceit. Don't just pretend to be good! Be done with hypocrisy and jealousy and backstabbing. 1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.
You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. Cry out for this nourishment as a baby cries for milk, 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness. 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Come to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God's temple. He was rejected by the people, but he is precious to God who chose him. 4 As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him--
And now God is building you, as living stones, into his spiritual temple. What's more, you are God's holy priests, who offer the spiritual sacrifices that please him because of Jesus Christ. 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
As the Scriptures express it, "I am placing a stone in Jerusalem, a chosen cornerstone, and anyone who believes in him will never be disappointed." 6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
