1 Therefore laying aside all malice and all guile, and hypocrisy and envy and all evil speaking, 1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.
2 as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby, 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
3 if so it be that ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
4 Coming to Him as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 4 As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him--
5 ye also as living stones are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture: "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious; and he that believeth in Him shall not be confounded." 6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
