Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
Now who is he who will harm you, if you become imitators of that which is good? 13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "Don't fear what they fear, neither be troubled." 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened."
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear: 15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
having a good conscience; that, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Messiah. 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil. 17 It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Because Messiah also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; 18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
in which he also went and preached to the spirits in prison, 19 through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison
who before were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited patiently in the days of Noach, while the teivah was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
This is a symbol of immersion, which now saves you - not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him. 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
