12 voici, j'agirai selon ta parole. Je te donnerai un coeur sage et intelligent, de telle sorte qu'il n'y aura eu personne avant toi et qu'on ne verra jamais personne de semblable ? toi.

12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.

13 Je te donnerai, en outre, ce que tu n'as pas demand?, des richesses et de la gloire, de telle sorte qu'il n'y aura pendant toute ta vie aucun roi qui soit ton pareil.

13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for--both riches and honor--so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.

14 Et si tu marches dans mes voies, en observant mes lois et mes commandements, comme l'a fait David, ton p?re, je prolongerai tes jours.
|
14 And if you walk in my ways and obey my statutes and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life."

15 Salomon s'?veilla. Et voil? le songe. Salomon revint ? J?rusalem, et se pr?senta devant l'arche de l'alliance de l'?ternel. Il offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de gr?ces, et il fit un festin ? tous ses serviteurs.

15 Then Solomon awoke--and he realized it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord's covenant and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then he gave a feast for all his court.

16 Alors deux femmes prostitu?es vinrent chez le roi, et se pr?sent?rent devant lui.

16 Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.
|

17 L'une des femmes dit: Pardon! mon seigneur, moi et cette femme nous demeurions dans la m?me maison, et je suis accouch?e pr?s d'elle dans la maison.

17 One of them said, "My lord, this woman and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was there with me.
|
|
18 Trois jours apr?s, cette femme est aussi accouch?e. Nous habitions ensemble, aucun ?tranger n'?tait avec nous dans la maison, il n'y avait que nous deux.
|
18 The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us.
|
|
19 Le fils de cette femme est mort pendant la nuit, parce qu'elle s'?tait couch?e sur lui.
|
19 "During the night this woman's son died because she lay on him.
|
|
20 Elle s'est lev?e au milieu de la nuit, elle a pris mon fils ? mes c?t?s tandis que ta servante dormait, et elle l'a couch? dans son sein; et son fils qui ?tait mort, elle l'a couch? dans mon sein.

20 So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast.

21 Le matin, je me suis lev?e pour allaiter mon fils; et voici, il ?tait mort. Je l'ai regard? attentivement le matin; et voici, ce n'?tait pas mon fils que j'avais enfant?.
|
21 The next morning, I got up to nurse my son--and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn't the son I had borne."

22 L'autre femme dit: Au contraire! c'est mon fils qui est vivant, et c'est ton fils qui est mort. Mais la premi?re r?pliqua: Nullement! C'est ton fils qui est mort, et c'est mon fils qui est vivant. C'est ainsi qu'elles parl?rent devant le roi.

22 The other woman said, "No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours." But the first one insisted, "No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine." And so they argued before the king.
