New King James Version (NKJV) New International Version (NIV)
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--
for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time.
for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle--I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying--a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
