New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings that come from demons. 1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
These teachers are hypocrites and liars. They pretend to be religious, but their consciences are dead. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanksgiving by people who know and believe the truth. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it. We may receive it gladly, with thankful hearts. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
For we know it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
