1 Les habitants de J?rusalem firent r?gner ? sa place Achazia, son plus jeune fils; car la troupe venue au camp avec les Arabes avait tu? tous les plus ?g?s. Ainsi r?gna Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.

1 The people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son, king in his place, since the raiders, who came with the Arabs into the camp, had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

2 Achazia avait quarante-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il r?gna un an ? J?rusalem. Sa m?re s'appelait Athalie, fille d'Omri.

2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri.

3 Il marcha dans les voies de la maison d'Achab, car sa m?re lui donnait des conseils impies.
|
3 He too walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him in doing wrong.
|
|
4 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'?ternel, comme la maison d'Achab, o? il eut apr?s la mort de son p?re des conseillers pour sa perte.

4 He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for after his father's death they became his advisers, to his undoing.

5 Entra?n? par leur conseil, il alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Isra?l, ? la guerre contre Haza?l, roi de Syrie, ? Ramoth en Galaad. Et les Syriens bless?rent Joram.

5 He also followed their counsel when he went with Joram son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram;

6 Joram s'en retourna pour se faire gu?rir ? Jizreel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites ? Rama, lorsqu'il se battait contre Haza?l, roi de Syrie. Azaria, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram, fils d'Achab, ? Jizreel, parce qu'il ?tait malade.

6 so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they had inflicted on him at Ramoth in his battle with Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab because he had been wounded.

7 Par la volont? de Dieu, ce fut pour sa ruine qu'Achazia se rendit aupr?s de Joram. Lorsqu'il fut arriv?, il sortit avec Joram pour aller au-devant de J?hu, fils de Nimschi, que l'?ternel avait oint pour exterminer la maison d'Achab.

7 Through Ahaziah's visit to Joram, God brought about Ahaziah's downfall. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

8 Et comme J?hu faisait justice de la maison d'Achab, il trouva les chefs de Juda et les fils des fr?res d'Achazia, qui ?taient au service d'Achazia, et il les tua.

8 While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's relatives, who had been attending Ahaziah, and he killed them.

9 Il chercha Achazia, et on le saisit dans Samarie, o? il s'?tait cach?. On l'amena aupr?s de J?hu, et on le fit mourir. Puis ils l'enterr?rent, car ils disaient: C'est le fils de Josaphat, qui cherchait l'?ternel de tout son coeur. Et il ne resta personne de la maison d'Achazia qui f?t en ?tat de r?gner.

9 He then went in search of Ahaziah, and his men captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. He was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, "He was a son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart." So there was no one in the house of Ahaziah powerful enough to retain the kingdom.

10 Athalie, m?re d'Achazia, voyant que son fils ?tait mort, se leva et fit p?rir toute la race royale de la maison de Juda.

10 When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family of the house of Judah.

11 Mais Joschabeath, fille du roi, prit Joas, fils d'Achazia, et l'enleva du milieu des fils du roi, quand on les fit mourir: elle le mit avec sa nourrice dans la chambre des lits. Ainsi Joschabeath, fille du roi Joram, femme du sacrificateur Jehojada, et soeur d'Achazia, le d?roba aux regards d'Athalie, qui ne le fit point mourir.

11 But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes who were about to be murdered and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of the priest Jehoiada, was Ahaziah's sister, she hid the child from Athaliah so she could not kill him.

12 Il resta six ans cach? avec eux dans la maison de Dieu. Et c'?tait Athalie qui r?gnait dans le pays.

12 He remained hidden with them at the temple of God for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.
