Holman Christian Standard (CSB) New International Version (NIV)
Working together with Him, we also appeal to you: "Don't receive God's grace in vain." 1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.
For He says: In an acceptable time, I heard you, and in the day of salvation, I helped you. Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation. 2 For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
We give no opportunity for stumbling to anyone, so that the ministry will not be blamed. 3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.
But in everything, as God's ministers, we commend ourselves: by great endurance, by afflictions, by hardship, by pressures, 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;
by beatings, by imprisonments, by riots, by labors, by sleepless nights, by times of hunger, 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger;
by purity, by knowledge, by patience, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
by the message of truth, by the power of God; through weapons of righteousness on the right hand and the left, 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
through glory and dishonor, through slander and good report; as deceivers yet true; 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors;
as unknown yet recognized; as dying and look-we live; as being chastened yet not killed; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed;
as grieving yet always rejoicing; as poor yet enriching many; as having nothing yet possessing everything. 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
We have spoken openly to you, Corinthians; our heart has been opened wide. 11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.
You are not limited by us, but you are limited by your own affections. 12 We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.
Now in like response-I speak as to children-you also should be open to us. 13 As a fair exchange--I speak as to my children--open wide your hearts also.
Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
What agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial ? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
And what agreement does God's sanctuary have with idols? For we are the sanctuary of the living God, as God said: I will dwell among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people. 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you. 17 "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."
I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty. 18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
