Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
Working together, we entreat also that you not receive the grace of God in vain, 1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.
for he says, "At an acceptable time I listened to you, In a day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
We give no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service may not be blamed, 3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.
but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of God, in great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses, 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;
in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in watchings, in fastings; 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger;
in pureness, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Ruach HaKodesh, in sincere love, 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors;
as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and not killed; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed;
as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
Our mouth is open to you, Corinthians. Our heart is enlarged. 11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.
You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections. 12 We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.
Now in return, I speak as to my children, you also be enlarged. 13 As a fair exchange--I speak as to my children--open wide your hearts also.
Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? 14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
What agreement has Messiah with Beliya`al? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial ? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people." 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
Therefore, "'Come out from among them, And be separate,' says the Lord, 'Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you. 17 "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."
I will be to you a Father. You will be to me sons and daughters,' says the Lord Almighty." 18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
