Young's Literal Translation (YLT) New International Version (NIV)
And working together also we call upon [you] that ye receive not in vain the grace of God -- 1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.
for He saith, `In an acceptable time I did hear thee, and in a day of salvation I did help thee, lo, now [is] a well-accepted time; lo, now, a day of salvation,' -- 2 For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
in nothing giving any cause of offence, that the ministration may be not blamed, 3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.
but in everything recommending ourselves as God's ministrants; in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses, 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;
in stripes, in imprisonments, in insurrections, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger;
in pureness, in knowledge, in long-suffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned, 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
in the word of truth, in the power of God, through the armour of the righteousness, on the right and on the left, 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
through glory and dishonour, through evil report and good report, as leading astray, and true; 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors;
as unknown, and recognized; as dying, and lo, we live; as chastened, and not put to death; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed;
as sorrowful, and always rejoicing; as poor, and making many rich; as having nothing, and possessing all things. 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
Our mouth hath been open unto you, O Corinthians, our heart hath been enlarged! 11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.
ye are not straitened in us, and ye are straitened in your [own] bowels, 12 We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.
and [as] a recompense of the same kind, (as to children I say [it],) be ye enlarged -- also ye! 13 As a fair exchange--I speak as to my children--open wide your hearts also.
Become not yoked with others -- unbelievers, for what partaking [is there] to righteousness and lawlessness? 14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
and what fellowship to light with darkness? and what concord to Christ with Belial? or what part to a believer with an unbeliever? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial ? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
and what agreement to the sanctuary of God with idols? for ye are a sanctuary of the living God, according as God said -- `I will dwell in them, and will walk among [them], and I will be their God, and they shall be My people, 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
wherefore, come ye forth out of the midst of them, and be separated, saith the Lord, and an unclean thing do not touch, and I -- I will receive you, 17 "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."
and I will be to you for a Father, and ye -- ye shall be to Me for sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.' 18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
