Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians. In God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you: and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith groweth exceedingly and the charity of every one of you towards each other aboundeth. 3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
So that we ourselves also glory in you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith, and in all your persecutions and tribulations: which you endure 4 Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
For an example of the just judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you suffer. 5 All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
Seeing it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to them that trouble you: 6 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you
And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power: 7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
In a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his power: 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power
When he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be made wonderful in all them who have believed; because our testimony was believed upon you in that day. 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.
Wherefore also we pray always for you: That our God would make you worthy of his vocation and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith in power: 11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.
That the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
