1 Und im siebten Jahre stärkte sich Jojada und verband die Obersten über hundert, Asarja, den Sohn Jerochams, und Ismael, den Sohn Jochanans, und Asarja, den Sohn Obeds, und Maaseja, den Sohn Adajas, und Elisaphat, den Sohn Sikris, mit sich in einem Bunde.

1 In the seventh year Jehoiada showed his strength. He made a covenant with the commanders of units of a hundred: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zicri.

2 Und sie zogen in Juda umher und versammelten die Leviten aus allen Städten Judas, und die Häupter der Väter von Israel; und sie kamen nach Jerusalem.

2 They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites and the heads of Israelite families from all the towns. When they came to Jerusalem,

3 Und die ganze Versammlung machte im Hause Gottes einen Bund mit dem König. Und Jojada sprach zu ihnen: Siehe, der Sohn des Königs soll König sein, so wie Jehova von den Söhnen Davids geredet hat.

3 the whole assembly made a covenant with the king at the temple of God. Jehoiada said to them, "The king's son shall reign, as the LORD promised concerning the descendants of David.

4 Dies ist es, was ihr tun sollt: Ein Drittel von euch, die ihr am Sabbath antretet, von den Priestern und von den Leviten, soll Türhüter der Schwellen sein;

4 Now this is what you are to do: A third of you priests and Levites who are going on duty on the Sabbath are to keep watch at the doors,

5 und ein Drittel soll im Hause des Königs sein; und ein Drittel am Tore Jesod; und alles Volk in den Höfen des Hauses Jehovas.

5 a third of you at the royal palace and a third at the Foundation Gate, and all the other men are to be in the courtyards of the temple of the LORD.

6 Und es soll niemand in das Haus Jehovas hineingehen, als nur die Priester und die diensttuenden Leviten; sie sollen hineingehen, denn sie sind heilig. Und alles Volk soll die Vorschriften Jehovas beobachten.

6 No one is to enter the temple of the LORD except the priests and Levites on duty; they may enter because they are consecrated, but all the other men are to guard what the LORD has assigned to them.
