The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
For the rest, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also with you; 1 Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.
and that we may be delivered from bad and evil men, for faith [is] not [the portion] of all. 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and keep [you] from evil. 3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
But we trust in the Lord as to you, that the things which we enjoin, ye both do and will do. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command.
But the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of the Christ. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance.
Now we enjoin you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the instruction which he received from us. 6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
For ye know yourselves how ye ought to imitate us, because we have not walked disorderly among you; 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you,
nor have we eaten bread from any one without cost; but in toil and hardship working night and day not to be chargeable to any one of you: 8 nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
not that we have not the right, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you, in order to your imitating us. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow.
For also when we were with you we enjoined you this, that if any man does not like to work, neither let him eat. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
For we hear that [there are] some walking among you disorderly, not working at all, but busybodies. 11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies.
Now such we enjoin and exhort in [the] Lord Jesus Christ, that working quietly they eat their own bread. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat.
But *ye*, brethren, do not faint in well-doing. 13 And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.
But if any one obey not our word by the letter, mark that man, and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed of himself; 14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed.
and do not esteem him as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother. 15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
But the Lord of peace himself give you peace continually in every way. The Lord [be] with you all. 16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
The salutation by the hand of me, Paul, which is [the] mark in every letter; so I write. 17 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
