Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
Know also this, that in the last days shall come dangerous times. 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked, 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,
Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasure more than of God: 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--
Having an appearance indeed of godliness but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid. 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
For of these sort are they who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, who are led away with divers desires: 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,
Ever learning, and never attaining to the knowledge of the truth. 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.
Now as Jannes and Mambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.
But they shall proceed no farther: for their folly shall be manifest to all men, as theirs also was. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience, 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,
Persecutions, afflictions: such as came upon me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra: what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord delivered me. 11 persecutions, sufferings--what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.
And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
But evil men and seducers shall grow worse and worse: erring, and driving into error, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But continue thou in those things which thou hast learned and which have been committed to thee. Knowing of whom thou hast learned them: 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures which can instruct thee to salvation by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice: 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work. 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
