Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
And it happened [that], when humankind began to multiply on the face of the ground, daughters were born to them. 1 When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them,
Then the sons of God saw the daughters of humankind, that they [were] beautiful. And they took for themselves wives from all that they chose. 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.
And Yahweh said, "My Spirit shall not abide with humankind forever in that he [is] also flesh. And his days [shall be] one hundred and twenty years." 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."
The Nephilim [were] upon the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went into the daughters of humankind, and they bore children to them. 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind [was] great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart [was] always only evil. 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
And Yahweh regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and {he was grieved in his heart}. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.
And Yahweh said, "I will destroy humankind whom I created from upon the face of the earth, from humankind, to animals, to creeping things, and to the birds of heaven, for I regret that I have made them." 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth--men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air--for I am grieved that I have made them."
But Noah found favor in the eyes of Yahweh. 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
These [are] the generations of Noah. Noah [was] a righteous man, without defect in his generations. Noah walked with God. 9 This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.
And Noah fathered three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
And the earth [was] corrupted before God, and the earth was filled [with] violence. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence.
And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.
And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh [has] come before me, for the earth was filled [with] violence because of them. Now, look, I [am going] to destroy them [along] with the earth. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
Make for yourself an ark of cypress wood; you must make the ark [with] rooms, then you must cover it with pitch, inside and outside. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.
And this [is] how you must make it: the length of the ark, three hundred cubits; its width fifty cubits; its height, thirty cubits. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.
You must make a roof for the ark, and {finish it to a cubit above}. And [as for] the door of the ark, you must put [it] in its side. You must make it [with] a lower, second, and a third [deck]. 16 Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.
And I, behold, I [am] about to bring the flood waters over the earth to destroy all flesh in which [is] the breath of life from under the heaven; everything that [is] on the earth shall perish. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.
And I will establish my covenant with you, and you must go into the ark--you, and your sons, and your wife, and the wives of your sons with you. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark--you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you.
And of every living thing, from all flesh, you must bring two from every [kind] into the ark to keep [them] alive with you; they shall be male and female. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.
From the birds according to their kind, and from the animals according to their kind, from every creeping thing [on] the ground according to its kind--two from every kind shall come to you to keep [them] alive. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.
And [as for] you, take for yourself from every kind of food that is eaten. And you must gather [it] to yourself. And it shall be for you and for them for food." 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them."
And Noah did according to all that God commanded him; thus he did. 22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
