Holman Christian Standard (CSB) New International Version (NIV)
God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.
The fear and terror of you will be in every living creature on the earth, every bird of the sky, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are placed under your authority. 2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.
Every living creature will be food for you; as [I gave] the green plants, I have given you everything. 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
However, you must not eat meat with its lifeblood in it. 4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.
I will require the life of every animal and every man for your life and your blood. I will require the life of each man's brother for a man's life. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in His image. 6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.
But you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out over the earth and multiply on it." 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."
Then God said to Noah and his sons with him, 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him:
"Understand that I am confirming My covenant with you and your descendants after you, 9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you
and with every living creature that is with you-birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you-all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark. 10 and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature on earth.
I confirm My covenant with you that never again will all flesh be wiped out by the waters of a deluge; there will never again be a deluge to destroy the earth." 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."
And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations: 12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
I have placed My bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
I will remember My covenant between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh: water will never again become a deluge to destroy all flesh. 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh on earth." 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that I have confirmed between Me and all flesh on earth." 17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."
Noah's sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan. 18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)
These three were Noah's sons, and from them the whole earth was populated. 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.
Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard. 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard.
He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent.
Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.
Then Shem and Japheth took a cloak and placed it over both their shoulders, and walking backwards, they covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father naked. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness.
When Noah awoke from his drinking and learned what his youngest son had done to him, 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him,
he said: Canaan will be cursed. He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers. 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers."
He also said: Praise the Lord, the God of Shem; Canaan will be his slave. 26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem.
God will extend Japheth; he will dwell in the tents of Shem; Canaan will be his slave. 27 May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."
Now Noah lived 350 years after the flood. 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years.
So Noah's life lasted 950 years; then he died. 29 Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died.
