Job 18 WEB/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

World English Bible (WEB) New International Version (NIV)
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, 1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
"How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak. 2 "When will you end these speeches? Be sensible, and then we can talk.
Why are we counted as animals, Which have become unclean in your sight? 3 Why are we regarded as cattle and considered stupid in your sight?
You who tear yourself in your anger, Shall the earth be forsaken for you? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place? 4 You who tear yourself to pieces in your anger, is the earth to be abandoned for your sake? Or must the rocks be moved from their place?
"Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, The spark of his fire shall not shine. 5 "The lamp of the wicked is snuffed out; the flame of his fire stops burning.
The light shall be dark in his tent, His lamp above him shall be put out. 6 The light in his tent becomes dark; the lamp beside him goes out.
The steps of his strength shall be shortened, His own counsel shall cast him down. 7 The vigor of his step is weakened; his own schemes throw him down.
For he is cast into a net by his own feet, And he wanders into its mesh. 8 His feet thrust him into a net and he wanders into its mesh.
A snare shall take him by the heel; A trap shall lay hold on him. 9 A trap seizes him by the heel; a snare holds him fast.
A noose is hidden for him in the ground, A trap for him in the way. 10 A noose is hidden for him on the ground; a trap lies in his path.
Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels. 11 Terrors startle him on every side and dog his every step.
His strength shall be famished, Calamity shall be ready at his side. 12 Calamity is hungry for him; disaster is ready for him when he falls.
The members of his body shall be devoured, The firstborn of death shall devour his members. 13 It eats away parts of his skin; death's firstborn devours his limbs.
He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusts. He shall be brought to the king of terrors. 14 He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.
There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his. Sulfur shall be scattered on his habitation. 15 Fire resides in his tent; burning sulfur is scattered over his dwelling.
His roots shall be dried up beneath, Above shall his branch be cut off. 16 His roots dry up below and his branches wither above.
His memory shall perish from the earth. He shall have no name in the street. 17 The memory of him perishes from the earth; he has no name in the land.
He shall be driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world. 18 He is driven from light into darkness and is banished from the world.
He shall have neither son nor grandson among his people, Nor any remaining where he sojourned. 19 He has no offspring or descendants among his people, no survivor where once he lived.
Those who come after shall be astonished at his day, As those who went before were frightened. 20 Men of the west are appalled at his fate; men of the east are seized with horror.
Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous, This is the place of him who doesn't know God." 21 Surely such is the dwelling of an evil man; such is the place of one who knows not God."
