1 Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés en el desierto de Sinaí, en el tabernáculo del testimonio, en el primero del mes segundo, en el segundo año de su salida de la tierra de Egipto, diciendo:

2 Tomad la lista de toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, con la cuenta de los nombres, todos los varones por sus cabezas.

3 De veinte años arriba, todos los que pueden salir a la guerra en Israel, los contaréis tú y Aarón por sus cuadrillas.

4 Y estarán con vosotros varones de <I>cada</I> tribu, cada uno cabeza de la casa de sus padres.

5 Y éstos son los nombres de los varones que estarán con vosotros: De <I>la tribu de</I> Rubén, Elisur hijo de Sedeur.

6 De Simeón, Selumiel hijo de Zurisadai.

7 De Judá, Naasón hijo de Aminadab.

8 De Isacar, Natanael hijo de Zuar.

9 De Zabulón, Eliab hijo de Helón.

10 De los hijos de José: de Efraín, Elisama hijo de Amiud; de Manasés, Gamaliel hijo de Pedasur.

11 De Benjamín, Abidán hijo de Gedeoni.

12 De Dan, Ahiezer hijo de Amisadai.

13 De Aser, Pagiel hijo de Ocrán.

14 De Gad, Eliasaf hijo de Deuel.

15 De Neftalí, Ahira hijo de Enán.

16 Estos eran los nombrados de la congregación, príncipes de las tribus de sus padres, capitanes de los millares de Israel.

17 Tomó, pues, Moisés y Aarón a estos varones que fueron designados por <I>sus</I> nombres,

18 y juntaron a toda la congregación en el primero del mes segundo, y fueron reunidos por sus linajes, por las casas de sus padres, según la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, por sus cabezas,

19 como el SEÑOR lo había mandado a Moisés; y los contó en el desierto de Sinaí.

20 Y los hijos de Rubén, primogénito de Israel, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres por sus cabezas, todos los varones de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

21 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Rubén, fueron cuarenta y seis mil quinientos.

22 De los hijos de Simeón, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, los contados de él conforme a la cuenta de los nombres por sus cabezas, todos <I>los</I> varones de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

23 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Simeón, cincuenta y nueve mil trescientos.

24 De los hijos de Gad, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

25 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Gad, cuarenta y cinco mil seiscientos cincuenta.

26 De los hijos de Judá, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

27 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Judá, setenta y cuatro mil seiscientos.

28 De los hijos de Isacar, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

29 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Isacar, cincuenta y cuatro mil cuatrocientos.

30 De los hijos de Zabulón, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de sus nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

31 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Zabulón, cincuenta y siete mil cuatrocientos.

32 De los hijos de José; de los hijos de Efraín, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

33 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Efraín, cuarenta mil quinientos.

34 De los hijos de Manasés, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

35 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Manasés, treinta y dos mil doscientos.

36 De los hijos de Benjamín, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

37 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Benjamín, treinta y cinco mil cuatrocientos.

38 De los hijos de Dan, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

39 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Dan, sesenta y dos mil setecientos.

40 De los hijos de Aser, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

41 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Aser, cuarenta y un mil quinientos.

42 De los hijos de Neftalí, <I>por</I> sus generaciones, por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra;

43 los contados de ellos, de la tribu de Neftalí, cincuenta y tres mil cuatrocientos.

44 Estos <I>fueron</I> los contados, los cuales contaron Moisés y Aarón y los doce varones príncipes de Israel, un varón por <I>cada</I> casa de sus padres.

45 Y fueron todos los contados de los hijos de Israel por las casas de sus padres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra en Israel;

46 fueron todos los contados seiscientos tres mil quinientos cincuenta.

47 Pero los levitas, según la tribu de sus padres, no fueron contados entre ellos.

48 <I>Porque</I> habló el SEÑOR a Moisés, diciendo:

49 Solamente no contarás la tribu de Leví, ni tomarás la cuenta de ellos entre los hijos de Israel;

50 mas tú pondrás a los levitas en el tabernáculo del testimonio, y sobre todos sus vasos, y sobre todas las cosas que les pertenecen; ellos llevarán el tabernáculo y todos sus vasos, y ellos servirán en él, y asentarán sus tiendas alrededor del tabernáculo.

51 Y cuando el tabernáculo partiere, los levitas lo desarmarán; y cuando el tabernáculo parare, los levitas lo armarán; y el extraño que se acercare, morirá.

52 Y los hijos de Israel asentarán sus tiendas cada uno en su escuadrón, y cada uno junto a su bandera, por sus cuadrillas;

53 mas los levitas asentarán las suyas alrededor del tabernáculo del testimonio, <I>para que</I> no haya ira sobre la congregación de los hijos de Israel; y los levitas tendrán la guarda del tabernáculo del testimonio.

54 E hicieron los hijos de Israel conforme a todas las cosas que mandó el SEÑOR a Moisés; así lo hicieron.

New International Version NIV

1 The LORD spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said:

2 “Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.

3 You and Aaron are to count according to their divisions all the men in Israel who are twenty years old or more and able to serve in the army.

4 One man from each tribe, each of them the head of his family, is to help you.

5 These are the names of the men who are to assist you: from Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;

6 from Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;

7 from Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;

8 from Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;

9 from Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;

10 from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; from Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;

11 from Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;

12 from Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;

13 from Asher, Pagiel son of Okran;

14 from Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;

15 from Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”

16 These were the men appointed from the community, the leaders of their ancestral tribes. They were the heads of the clans of Israel.

17 Moses and Aaron took these men whose names had been specified,

18 and they called the whole community together on the first day of the second month. The people registered their ancestry by their clans and families, and the men twenty years old or more were listed by name, one by one,

19 as the LORD commanded Moses. And so he counted them in the Desert of Sinai:

20 From the descendants of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families.

21 The number from the tribe of Reuben was 46,500.

22 From the descendants of Simeon: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were counted and listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families.

23 The number from the tribe of Simeon was 59,300.

24 From the descendants of Gad: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

25 The number from the tribe of Gad was 45,650.

26 From the descendants of Judah: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

27 The number from the tribe of Judah was 74,600.

28 From the descendants of Issachar: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

29 The number from the tribe of Issachar was 54,400.

30 From the descendants of Zebulun: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

31 The number from the tribe of Zebulun was 57,400.

32 From the sons of Joseph: From the descendants of Ephraim: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

33 The number from the tribe of Ephraim was 40,500.

34 From the descendants of Manasseh: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

35 The number from the tribe of Manasseh was 32,200.

36 From the descendants of Benjamin: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

37 The number from the tribe of Benjamin was 35,400.

38 From the descendants of Dan: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

39 The number from the tribe of Dan was 62,700.

40 From the descendants of Asher: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

41 The number from the tribe of Asher was 41,500.

42 From the descendants of Naphtali: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.

43 The number from the tribe of Naphtali was 53,400.

44 These were the men counted by Moses and Aaron and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.

45 All the Israelites twenty years old or more who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.

46 The total number was 603,550.

47 The ancestral tribe of the Levites, however, was not counted along with the others.

48 The LORD had said to Moses:

49 “You must not count the tribe of Levi or include them in the census of the other Israelites.

50 Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle of the covenant law—over all its furnishings and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it.

51 Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall do it. Anyone else who approaches it is to be put to death.

52 The Israelites are to set up their tents by divisions, each of them in their own camp under their standard.

53 The Levites, however, are to set up their tents around the tabernacle of the covenant law so that my wrath will not fall on the Israelite community. The Levites are to be responsible for the care of the tabernacle of the covenant law.”

54 The Israelites did all this just as the LORD commanded Moses.
