Proverbs 14 TMB/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

Third Millennium Bible (TMB) New International Version (NIV)
Every wise woman buildeth her house, but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. 1 The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD, but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth Him. 2 He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him.
The mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise shall preserve him. 3 A fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase comes by the strength of the ox. 4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox comes an abundant harvest.
A faithful witness will not lie, but a false witness will utter lies. 5 A truthful witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.
A scorner seeketh wisdom and findeth it not, but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth. 6 The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
Go from the presence of a foolish man when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge. 7 Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips.
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is to be deceived. 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.
Fools mock at sin, but among the righteous there is favor. 9 Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.
The heart knoweth his own bitterness, and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy. 10 Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy.
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown, but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish. 11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of that mirth is heaviness. 13 Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief.
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. 14 The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good man rewarded for his.
The simple believeth every word, but the prudent man looketh well to his going. 15 A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil, but the fool rageth and is confident. 16 A wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless.
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of wicked devices is hated. 17 A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated.
The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge. 18 The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
The evil bow before the good, the wicked at the gates of the righteous. 19 Evil men will bow down in the presence of the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
The poor is hated even by his own neighbor, but the rich hath many friends. 20 The poor are shunned even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends.
He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth, but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. 21 He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.
Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good. 22 Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.
In all labor there is profit, but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. 23 All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
The crown of the wise is their riches, but the foolishness of fools is folly. 24 The wealth of the wise is their crown, but the folly of fools yields folly.
A truthful witness delivereth souls, but a deceitful witness speaketh lies. 25 A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful.
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence, and His children shall have a place of refuge. 26 He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life to depart from the snares of death. 27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.
In a multitude of people is the honor of the king, but the lack of people is the destruction of the prince. 28 A large population is a king's glory, but without subjects a prince is ruined.
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding, but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. 29 A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.
A sound heart is the life of the flesh, but envy is the rottenness of the bones. 30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker, but he that honoreth Him hath mercy on the poor. 31 He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness, but the righteous hath hope in his death. 32 When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge.
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding, but that which is innermost in fools is made known. 33 Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known.
Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
The king's favor is toward a wise servant, but his wrath is against him that causeth shame. 35 A king delights in a wise servant, but a shameful servant incurs his wrath.
