Doesn't wisdom call out? Doesn't understanding raise her voice? 1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the high roads along the way, she takes her place where the paths meet. 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
Beside the gates leading into the city, she cries out at the entrances. 3 beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:
She says, "Men, I call out to you. I raise my voice to all human beings. 4 "To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.
You who are childish, get some good sense. You who are foolish, gain understanding. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
Listen! I have worthy things to say. I open my lips to speak what is right. 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth speaks what is true. My lips hate evil. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are honest. None of them is twisted or sinful. 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.
To those who have understanding, all my words are right. To those who have knowledge, they are true. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
Choose my teaching instead of silver. Choose knowledge rather than fine gold. 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
Wisdom is worth more than rubies. Nothing you want can compare with her. 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
"I, wisdom, live together with understanding. I have knowledge and good sense. 12 "I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
To have respect for the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride and bragging. I hate evil ways and twisted words. 13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
I have good sense and give good advice. I have understanding and power. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power.
By me kings rule. Leaders make laws that are fair. 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;
By me princes govern. By me all nobles rule on earth. 16 by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.
I love those who love me. Those who look for me find me. 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
With me are riches and honor. With me are lasting wealth and success. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than fine gold. My gifts are better than the finest silver. 19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk in ways that are honest. I take paths that are right. 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
I leave riches to those who love me. I give them more than they have room for. 21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
"The LORD created me as the first of his works, before his acts of long ago. 22 "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;
I was formed at the very beginning. I was formed before the world began. 23 I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.
Before there were any oceans, I was born. There weren't any springs of water at that time. 24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water;
Before the mountains were settled in place, I was born. Before there were any hills, I was born. 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,
It happened before the LORD made the earth and its fields. It was before he made the dust of the world. 26 before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world.
I was there when he set the heavens in place. When he marked out the place where the sky meets the sea, I was there. 27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
That was when he put the clouds above. It was when he fixed the ocean springs in place. 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
It was when he set limits for the sea so that the waters had to obey his command. When he marked out the foundations of the earth, I was there. 29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
I was the skilled worker at his side. I was filled with delight day after day. I was always happy to be with him. 30 Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
His whole world filled me with joy. I took delight in all human beings. 31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
"My children, listen to me. Blessed are those who keep my ways. 32 "Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
Listen to my teaching and be wise. Don't turn away from it. 33 Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.
Blessed is the one who listens to me. He watches every day at my doors. He waits beside my doorway. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
Those who find me find life. They receive favor from the Lord. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.
But those who don't find me harm only themselves. Everyone who hates me loves death." 36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
