I will praise you, Lord, because you rescued me. You did not let my enemies laugh at me. 1 I will exalt you, O LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
Lord, my God, I prayed to you, and you healed me. 2 O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.
You lifted me out of the grave; you spared me from going down to the place of the dead. 3 O LORD, you brought me up from the grave; you spared me from going down into the pit.
Sing praises to the Lord, you who belong to him; praise his holy name. 4 Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name.

When I felt safe, I said, "I will never fear." 6 When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken."
Lord, in your kindness you made my mountain safe. But when you turned away, I was frightened. 7 O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.
I called to you, Lord, and asked you to have mercy on me. 8 To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:
I said, "What good will it do if I die or if I go down to the grave? Dust cannot praise you; it cannot speak about your truth. 9 "What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
Lord, hear me and have mercy on me. Lord, help me." 10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help."
You changed my sorrow into dancing. You took away my clothes of sadness, and clothed me in happiness. 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
I will sing to you and not be silent. Lord, my God, I will praise you forever. For the director of music. A psalm of David. 12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
