And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and [with] the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars, 1 A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.
and {who was pregnant} and was crying out [because she] was having birth pains, and was in torment to give birth. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
And another sign appeared in heaven, and behold, a great fiery red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads [were] seven royal headbands. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads.
And his tail swept away a third of the stars from heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, in order that whenever she gave birth to her child he could devour [it]. 4 His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born.
And she gave birth to a son, a male [child], who is going to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod, and her child was snatched away to God and to his throne. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared there by God, so that they could feed her there [for one] thousand two hundred sixty days. 6 The woman fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.
And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels {fought against} the dragon, and the dragon and his angels {fought back}. 7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
And they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them [any] longer in heaven. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.
And the great dragon was thrown down, the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 9 The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, because the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
And they conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives until death. 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
Because of this, rejoice, you heavens, and those who live in them! Woe [to] the earth and [to] the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great anger, [because he] knows that he has little time!" 12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short."
And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male [child]. 13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
And the two wings of a great eagle were given to the woman, in order that she could fly into the wilderness, to her place where she is fed there [for] a time, and times, and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 14 The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent's reach.
And from his mouth the serpent spouted water like a river after the woman, in order that he could make her swept away by a river. 15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent.
And the earth came to the aid of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river that the dragon had spouted out of his mouth. 16 But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
And the dragon was angry at the woman, and went away to {fight against} the rest of her children, those who keep the commandments of God and who hold to the testimony about Jesus. 17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring--those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
And he stood on the sand of the sea. 18
