Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service. 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.
And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
For I say, by the grace that is given me, to all that are among you, not to be more wise than it behoveth to be wise, but to be wise unto sobriety and according as God hath divided to every one the measure of faith. 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
For as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office: 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
So we, being many, are one body in Christ; and every one members one of another: 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
And having different gifts, according to the grace that is given us, either prophecy, to be used according to the rule of faith; 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
Or ministry, in ministering; or he that teacheth, in doctrine; 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
He that exhorteth, in exhorting; he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with carefulness; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Let love be without dissimulation. Hating that which is evil, cleaving to that which is good, 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Loving one another with the charity of brotherhood: with honour preventing one another. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
In carefulness not slothful. In spirit fervent. Serving the Lord. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Rejoicing in hope. Patient in tribulation. Instant in prayer. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Communicating to the necessities of the saints. Pursuing hospitality. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless them that persecute you: bless, and curse not. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with them that rejoice: weep with them that weep. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Being of one mind one towards another. Not minding high things, but consenting to the humble. Be not wise in your own conceits. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
To no man rendering evil for evil. Providing good things, not only in the sight of God but also in the sight of all men. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
If it be possible, as much as is in you, have peace with all men. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved; but give place unto wrath, for it is written: Revenge is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord. 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
But if the enemy be hungry, give him to eat; if he thirst, give him to drink. For, doing this, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. 20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
Be not overcome by evil: but overcome evil by good. 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
