1 Oración del pobre <I>en espíritu</I> , cuando estuviere atormentado, y delante del SEÑOR derramare su queja. SEÑOR, oye mi oración, y venga mi clamor a ti.

Hear my prayer, LORD; let my cry for help come to you.
2 No escondas de mí tu rostro; en el día de mi angustia inclina a mí tu oído; el día que <I>te</I> invocare, apresúrate a responderme.

Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.
3 Porque mis días se han consumido como humo; y mis huesos son quemados como <I>en</I> hogar.

For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn like glowing embers.
4 Mi corazón fue herido, y se secó como la hierba; por lo cual me olvidé de comer mi pan.

My heart is blighted and withered like grass; I forget to eat my food.
5 Por la voz de mi gemido mis huesos se han pegado a mi carne.

In my distress I groan aloud and am reduced to skin and bones.
6 Soy semejante al pelícano del desierto; soy como el búho de las soledades.

I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins.
7 Velo, y soy como el pájaro solitario sobre el tejado.

I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof.
8 Cada día me afrentan mis enemigos; los que se enfurecen contra mí, se han conjurado contra mí.

All day long my enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse.
9 Por lo cual como la ceniza a manera de pan, y mi bebida mezclo con lloro,

For I eat ashes as my food and mingle my drink with tears
10 a causa de tu enojo y de tu ira; porque me alzaste, y me arrojaste.

because of your great wrath, for you have taken me up and thrown me aside.
11 Mis días son como la sombra que se va; y me he secado como la hierba.

My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.
12 Mas tú, SEÑOR, para siempre permanecerás, y tu memoria para generación y generación.

But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.
13 Tú levantándote, tendrás misericordia de Sion; porque <I>es</I> tiempo de tener misericordia de ella, porque el plazo <I>es llegado</I> .

You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come.
14 Porque tus siervos amaron sus piedras, y del polvo de ella tuvieron compasión.

For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity.
15 Entonces temerán los gentiles el Nombre del SEÑOR, y todos los reyes de la tierra tu gloria;
15
The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.
16 por cuanto el SEÑOR habrá edificado a Sion, y será visto en su gloria;
16
For the LORD will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory.
17 habrá mirado a la oración de los solitarios y <I>menesterosos</I> , y no habrá desechado el ruego de ellos.

He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
18 Se escribirá esto para la generación venidera; y el pueblo que se criará, alabará a JAH.

Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD:
19 Porque miró de lo alto de su santuario; el SEÑOR miró de los cielos a la tierra,

“The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth,
20 para oír el gemido de los presos, para soltar a los hijos de muerte;
20
to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.”
21 para que cuenten en Sion el Nombre del SEÑOR, y su alabanza en Jerusalén,

So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem
22 cuando los pueblos se congregaren en uno, y los reinos, para servir al SEÑOR.

when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD.
23 <I>El</I> afligió mi fuerza en el camino; acortó mis días.

In the course of my life he broke my strength; he cut short my days.
24 Dije: Dios mío, no me cortes en el medio de mis días; por generación de generaciones <I>son</I> tus años.

So I said: “Do not take me away, my God, in the midst of my days; your years go on through all generations.
25 Tú fundaste la tierra antiguamente, y los cielos son obra de tus manos.

In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 Ellos perecerán, y tú permanecerás; y todos ellos como <I>un</I> vestido se envejecerán; como <I>una</I> ropa de vestir los mudarás, y serán mudados;

They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded.
27 mas tú eres el mismo, y tus años no se acabarán.

But you remain the same, and your years will never end.
28 Los hijos de tus siervos habitarán, y su simiente será afirmada delante de ti.

The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.”
