Third Millennium Bible w/ Apocrypha (TMBA) New International Version (NIV)
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. 1 And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
As for Saul, he made havoc of the church. Entering into every house and haling men and women, he committed them to prison. 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.
Therefore those who were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the Word. 4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.
